• Curry Leaves — the leaf of the curry tree, a kitchen herb.
• Fenugreek Seed — methi, the small golden seed.
• Bay Leaves — the dried leaf used in cooking.
• Vegetable Glycerin — a clear, plant-derived liquid.
• Green Tea — the tea leaf.
• Black Seed — kalonji, the small black seed.
• Vitamin E — a vitamin, not an oil.
• Rose Water — water distilled from rose petals.
• Cloves — the dried flower bud, the kitchen spice.
• Distilled Water — water with its minerals distilled out. This is a water-based spray, and this is the water.
• Aloe Vera — from the leaf of the aloe plant.
• Sodium Benzoate — a preservative, used in a minimal concentration.

Free from silicone, sulphate and paraben. The same thirteen names are printed on the bottle, in this order, so you can read one against the other.

1. Start on dry hair. The toner goes onto a dry scalp and dry lengths, not wet ones.
2. Spray directly onto dry scalp and hair.
3. Cover the scalp and the lengths, keeping the spray away from your eyes.
4. Massage gently for absorption.
5. Leave it in. No need to rinse — it dries without residue, so it fits a morning routine.
6. If you prefer to wash it out, leave it on overnight first.
7. Use daily for best results, or at least 4–5 times a week.

The toner is light enough to leave in every day. The Root Rise Oil is the heavier one, left on for hours a few times a week.

It is a leave-in, not a wash. The toner is water-based and light: it goes onto a dry scalp and dry hair, is massaged in, and then stays where you put it. Nothing is rinsed out afterwards, and it dries without residue.

Thirteen ingredients go into the 250 ml bottle, and nine of them are botanicals — rosemary, curry leaves, fenugreek seed, bay leaves, green tea, black seed, rose water, cloves and aloe vera. The other four are vegetable glycerin, distilled water, vitamin E, and a minimal amount of sodium benzoate for preservation.

Three things are left out on purpose. Silicones coat hair to make it feel smooth and then build up until a harsh wash takes them off. Sulphates are the aggressive foaming agents in many shampoos. Parabens are common preservatives that many people would rather avoid. None of the three is in this bottle.

Where it sits in a routine: the toner is a light spray you leave in and can use daily; the oil is heavier, stays on for hours and suits three or four times a week. Neither one has to be washed out. They do different jobs, and plenty of people use both.
